A group of Valley Stream Central High School District students explored future careers in architecture, engineering, and construction through the ACE Mentor Program this year, culminating in a year-end showcase in June. The national initiative connects industry professionals with students through weekly mentoring sessions.
Throughout the school year, students worked in small groups with design and construction professionals, gaining hands-on experience and career insights. The program focuses on inspiring the next generation of industry leaders through practical learning and mentorship. Kaitlyn Reed and Nora Miriam Rivera from North High School, and Ariella Montalban from South High School served as members of Team 33 alongside teammate Ella Heison from Baldwin High School.
“The mentors were amazing and made sure we had the best experience,” said Ariella. “With the program’s help, I realized that I wanted to go to college for architecture. So, I overall have a great time with ACE.”
