Thirty-three student-researchers from Valley Stream North, Central, South, and Memorial Junior High School had the opportunity to showcase their research prowess at the Long Island Science Congress (LISC) competition held on April 7 and 8 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. The event brought together more than 700 of Long Island’s top student-researchers for a day of scholarly exchange and innovation.
Ten seniors from North High School’s Authentic Science Research program presented original projects to panels of judges, engaging in scientific discourse while exploring the museum’s exhibits. From South, a second team of 10 researchers also presented innovative projects at the competition. Seven student-researchers from Central High School presented their findings to judges and attendees. Finally, six students from Memorial showcased their projects at the LISC’s Junior Division Congress Day. All participants gained valuable experience communicating their findings to scientific judges and peers.
