The Valley Stream Central High School District is proud to announce that Valley Stream North, South and Central high schools have each earned the Silver designation on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, recognized by the College Board for expanding access to Advanced Placement courses and supporting student success in these challenging areas of study.
To achieve Silver designation, schools must meet specific benchmarks for their most recent graduating class. At least 40 percent of the graduating cohort must have taken at least one AP Exam during high school, demonstrating a strong college culture. At least 25 percent must have scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, showing they are earning potential college credit. Additionally, at least 2 percent of the graduating cohort must have taken five or more AP Exams during high school, with at least one of those exams taken in 9th or 10th grade, reflecting early and sustained engagement with college-level coursework.
This marks another year of strong AP recognition for the District. In 2023, all three Valley Stream high schools earned Silver designation on the inaugural AP School Honor Roll, with South and Central high schools also receiving the Access Award for high levels of AP exam participation among underrepresented student populations. The District’s commitment to college preparation and expanding access to AP curriculum has been a consistent focus.

A robust Advanced Placement course offering is one of the many ways we do that,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Wayne Loper. “These designations reaffirm our efforts and are a testament to our educators’ support and our students’ willingness to challenge themselves.”
