The Valley Stream Central High School District hosted a My Brother’s Keeper Game Night, bringing together roughly 200 students from across Long Island for an evening of brotherhood, community-building, and fun. This marked the first time the District has served as host for the event.
Students from Valley Stream Central and neighboring MBK districts—including Westbury, Hempstead, Uniondale, Roosevelt, Central Islip and Brentwood—gathered for the evening, which began with dinner and a brief series of motivational speakers, followed by a series of mixers and games designed to bring students together. Activities included basketball, volleyball, handball, and scooter races, providing opportunities for students to build relationships and celebrate their participation in the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
“This event gave our students the chance to socialize, learn to network, and simply be themselves in a safe and supportive environment,” said Nakeshia Smith-Farnum, Director of Restorative Practices & Community Engagement for the Valley Stream Central High School District. “Seeing them connect with peers from other districts while enjoying a night of fun and brotherhood was truly special.”
The evening featured a number of games for the students to play.
Motivational speakers imparted some practical wisdom on the students.
