VSCHSD Holds Annual Reorganization Meeting

The Valley Stream Central High School District Board of Education held its annual reorganization meeting on July 12, during which the board President and Vice President were sworn in for the 2022-2023 school year as well as the new and returning trustees.

The nine-person body comprises Trustees selected to serve on the high school district board by the Valley Stream District 13, District 24 and District 30 boards of education. Kenneth Cummings, from District 30, was selected as President for the 2022-2023 year and Patricia Farrell, from District 13, was selected as Vice President of the board. New Trustees this year include Gerardo Cavaliere, from District 13, and Melissa Herrera, from District 24. Returning Trustees from the previous year include District 24’s Armando Hernandez and John Maier, District 13’s Milagros Vicente and District 30’s C. Sandra Okafor and Kelly Ureña. Robin Rabie was also sworn in as returning district clerk.

“The upcoming school year promises to be an exciting one for the Valley Stream Central High School District,” President Cummings said. “I look forward to helping shepherd the excellent new programs we have in store for our students, and continue the work of educating this wonderful community’s junior high and high school students.”

“I’m honored to once again serve on the Central High School District Board of Education,” Vice President Farrell said. “I have no doubt that this will be a great year for our students as we continue to expand the educational opportunities we offer to everyone.”
