The Valley Stream Central High School District held its Summer School graduation ceremony on August 18. The graduates were celebrated for meeting all of the requirements needed to earn their high school diplomas. In doing so, they are now poised to begin a new chapter in their lives.

Speaking at the commencement ceremony, Summer School Principal Robert Milani praised the students for their dedication to attending class in order to finish their high school careers during this exceptionally hot summer. He remarked that their efforts reminded him of NCAA basketball player and coach Jim Valvano’s famed 1993 ESPY Awards speech, in which, dying of terminal cancer, he announced the formation of his cancer research nonprofit and its motto: “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”

The Valley Stream Central High School District 2022 summer school graduates are:

  • Adeel Amer
  • Jessica Barillas
  • Sayeba Bhuiyan
  • Jonathan Diaz
  • Aaron Reguero
  • Jeremiah Samlal
  • Arshbir Singh
  • Jaybrien Urena
