The Valley Stream Central High School District is proud to announce that Valley Stream South, Central, and North high schools have been recognized among the nation’s best public high schools, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual list for 2025. The ranking placed the schools at 120th, 158th, and 173rd in New York State, respectively—all within the top 15th percent and among the top 10 percent in the nation.
“This wonderful recognition for South, Central, and North is a powerful affirmation of our vibrant and diverse school community’s shared commitment to excellence,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Wayne Loper. “Congratulations to our building staff and principals, who every day foster rich and dynamic learning environments, and work tirelessly to put every student on the road to success.”
The rankings methodology measures key indicators of student achievement, including college readiness, graduation rates, and proficiency in math, reading, and science.
