Valley Stream North High School’s Spartans Celebrate Homecoming 2021

November 16, 2021

Valley Stream, NY (November 2021)—Valley Stream North High School welcomed current students, alumni, family, and friends for its annual Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 30. After having to cancel the event last year due to the pandemic, this year’s Homecoming was especially exciting, and it showed; so many of the hundreds in attendance sported green and white attire to show their Spartan pride!

Starting off Spirit Week on the Monday prior to Homecoming festivities, students wore pajamas to school for Pajama Day. On Tuesday’s Time Travel Day, the school was filled with students dressed in fashion from the past. On Western Wednesday, students wore cowboy boots and hats. Thursday’s Spirit Day was a day dedicated to students wearing green, the school’s color, and on Friday’s Costume Day, the hallways were filled with students dressed in amazing Halloween costumes.

The Senior High School Student Council and Advisors Mary Parisi and Al Daddino planned all the Homecoming festivities, while Athletic Director Mr. Klimuszko worked with parents and coaches of the Spartan Club to ensure the senior athletes were honored at the Senior Breakfast.

“Homecoming is always a great opportunity for our school community to show off our Spartan pride; rally our students and staff; and show support for all our athletics, academics, and extracurricular activities,” said Dr. Robin Small, Interim Principal of Valley Stream North High School. “Nothing compares with everyone in person together, sharing their excitement and enthusiasm for our school and our community.”

Mr. Fabian Jara, Interim Assistant Principal of Valley Stream North High School, and Mr. Daddino served as DJ and game announcer, respectively. School clubs and organizations—including the Grade Councils, Black Student Union, Culture Society, National Junior Honor Society, and Tri – M Music Honor Society—worked with advisors to make the Homecoming Pre-Game Festival successful. Spartan’s Cheerleaders, Kickline, and the Step Team performed during halftime, while the Spartan Marching Band provided musical entertainment throughout the game and at halftime. Homecoming King and Queen, Daniel Ellis and Alessandra Llubit were crowned. The day was topped off with a Spartan win in the Homecoming game, 28-21 over Lynbrook.
