Valley Stream, NEW YORK (February, 2022) — Members of the Junior Ventures virtual enterprise class at Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School placed in the top 10 percent in the National Elevator Pitch Competition for its virtual business: A Cookie in Between.
Hosted by Virtual Enterprises International, the National Elevator Pitch Competition pits the business ideas of virtual enterprise teams from 300 schools across the country against each other. Virtual enterprise gives students the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills by simulating the rigors of launching and running a business, replete with their own HR, accounting, social media, marketing, web and graphic design departments.
The Memorial students came up with the idea for A Cookie in Between after performing research into food allergies. They decided to form a business that serves delicious, visually appealing and allergy-friendly treats. All of their products are dairy, peanut and tree-nut free; there are even gluten-free options as well. The students also created their company brand, logo, slogan and color scheme to go along with their business idea. Their pitch was well-received, and the students took part in their first virtual trade show on February 14.
