Valley Stream, NEW YORK (January, 2022) — The Valley Stream Central High School District Board of Education has engaged Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to assist the District in conducting a national search to identify the best qualified educator to assume the position of Superintendent of Schools beginning in July 2022.
Illinois-based Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) is a network of highly qualified, independent education consultants across the nation.HYA has over 30 years of executive search and education consulting experience working with school systems across the nation, large and small, urban and rural.HYA Associates are located all across the country to conveniently serve clients with a local focus, but with national reach.
The firm will be soliciting input from Board members, Central High School District administration, building administrators, representatives from all district bargaining units, parents and the greater Valley Stream community regarding the characteristics and qualifications desired in the District’s next Superintendent. Based on this input, the search consultants will market the Central High School District Superintendent of Schools position to a diverse pool of potential applicants, recruit prospective candidates, screen and vet applicants and assist the Board in selecting finalists and, ultimately, the most capable individual to lead the District beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.
The Board is confident that conducting a national search will ensure it is putting students, staff and the community in the hands of an educational leader who is best suited to sustaining and building upon the Valley Stream Central High School District’s stellar reputation as one of the elite districts in the state and in the country.
Valley Stream Central High School District parents and residents will be given the opportunity to provide input to the Board about the leadership needs of the District through an anonymous online survey that will be available from January 31 through February 18. The link for the survey will be posted on the Superintendent Search page on the District’s website starting January 31 (under Resources on the home page, go to Superintendent Search). Input from District staff and community stakeholders will also be solicited at a series of virtual forums during which attendees will be given the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and ideas about the next Superintendent. Following a compilation of information provided through the online survey and forums, a “Leadership Profile” will be developed that will be presented to the Board of Education and the community at the Board’s regularly scheduled Board meeting on March 8, 2022. The report will also be posted on the District’s website.
