Valley Stream Central High School District Students Clean the Town

November 8, 2021

Valley Stream, NY (October 2021)—Valley Stream is cleaner thanks to Valley Stream Central High School District students! On Saturday, October 23, Memorial Junior High School Builders Club members joined Key Club members from Valley Stream Central High School and Valley Stream South High School to do a community clean-up. These clubs focus on community service, building character, and giving members opportunities to practice leadership skills.

“I admire our students’ dedication to our community,” said Dr. Wayne Loper, Acting Superintendent of the Valley Stream Central High School District. “It’s incredible that our students came out on a weekend to give back to our community. This is another example of the exceptional students we have in our District, and the commitment they have to make positive contributions to their hometown.”

The Kiwanis Club, which sponsors the Key Clubs and Builders Club, supplied the students with garbage bags and trash picker sticks. Everyone contributed by collecting trash as they walked from Memorial Junior High School to the Village Green. Lana Plinto, Central High School’s Key Club Advisor, Coreen Kelly, Memorial Junior High School’s Builders Club Advisor, and Deidre Gordon, South High School’s Key Club Advisor, attended the event to support the students.
