Valley Stream Central High School District Holds 65th Annual Music Scholarship Festival

April 17, 2023

The Valley Stream Central High School District held its annual Districtwide Music Scholarship Festival on March 24. This long-running Valley Stream tradition—now in its 65th year—showcases all of the District’s high school musical artists, and raises funds for a music scholarship that goes to a graduating senior from each of the District’s three high schools.

This year, the scholarship recipients were Central High School’s Lindsay Guerra, North High School’s Elyas Layachi and South High School’s Aidan Dombrosky. They were selected for their outstanding musical abilities. The concert saw nearly 300 students in grades 9 through 12 participating in select orchestra, chorus and concert band groups. Each was conducted by a member of the District’s music faculty.

Additionally, for the first time since before the pandemic, the concert was presented to visiting 6th grade students from Valley Stream elementary school districts 13, 24 and 30.
