Valley Stream North and South high schools have been recognized as New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. (NYSPHSAA) Schools of Excellence. The School of Excellence Award recognizes public high schools in which 75 percent of their varsity teams qualify for the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team Award. To be a Scholar-Athlete Team, the average GPA of 75 percent of its roster must be 90.00 or above.
“High school sports are as much about student athletes managing their classwork as they are about performance on the field,” said Valley Stream Central High School District Athletic Director Brett Kornblum. “These recognitions for our teams at North and South show the commitment our student athletes have shown not just to their respective sports, but also to their studies.”
North and South were among just 12 high schools in Section VIII, Nassau County to be named Schools of Excellence.
