The Valley Stream Central High School District recently announced the launch of its “Twilight Program” on October 4th, 2021.The Twilight Program is an individualized program designed specifically for students who may have fallen behind on their schoolwork due to the pandemic, students who have to work, or students who may be able to perform better in an environment smaller and more personalized than the normal high school setting.
“We believe this program can be a game-changer for students who may find the traditional educational environment overwhelming,” said Dr. Loper, Superintendent of Valley Stream Central High School District. “Each student comes from a different background. They each have different challenges away from the school setting. This individualized program supports these students in a way that ensures they are given the best opportunity to achieve to the highest potential in their high school journey.”
The program commences at 3:45 PM and finishes at 8:15 PM, Monday to Thursday. The Twilight Program motto is “Go Beyond Your Potential,” which encourages students to believe that they can achieve more than what they think they can. The program will be available to all students in the Valley Stream Central High School District in grades 10 through 12. Interested students should speak to their guidance counselor about the Twilight Program to see if the program is a good fit for them.
“I am excited about the Twilight Program,” said Danielle N. Williams, Director of Alternative Programs and Principal of the Twilight Program. “As a proud mother of two boys with specific educational challenges, I know the potential this program has to positively impact students.”
