The district is proud to announce that two South High School students, senior Abdullah Ali and junior Sameer Singh, earned high honors at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair.
Abdullah earned Most Outstanding Exhibit in Materials Science from the ASM Materials Education Foundation for his research, “Variation of Fibers to Create Viable Green Composites.”
Sameer earned two recognitions for his research, “Exo2: An Exploration Into a Novel Classification Algorithm for Kepler and K2 Transit Photometry.” This includes the NASA Earth System Science Award and third place in the category of Math/Physics/Astronomy.
South’s science research faculty and teachers Mr. Jeffrey Hsi and Ms. Melissa Torregrosa are very proud of these students and applaud the hard work they have dedicated to their research.
