In the interest of student safety, it is with great sadness I inform you that the Executive Director of Section VIII Athletics has made the difficult decision to cancel the Spring Sports Season in Nassau County as of April 21st. Section XI (Suffolk County) has cancelled their Spring Sports Season as well.
The athletic department of each building will continue to monitor the current situation and communicate any developments as directions become available. We will continue to prepare for the Fall 2020 season and information regarding sign ups, sports physicals, and summer clinics will be shared when appropriate. We are currently exploring how to recognize our student athletes at the building levels and will provide information as soon as it becomes available. When restrictions are modified, arrangements will be made for student-athletes to get access to their personal belongings.
This decision will impact all of us…coaches lose the opportunity to help their student athletes develop, grow, and fulfill their dreams and goals, friends and teachers miss out on watching these tremendous young men and women represent their schools with pride, families miss out on witnessing their love ones participate in the sports they love and have trained for so long to reach their potential, and most of all our student-athletes who have lost out on so many levels. To our senior athletes, words cannot express just how proud we all are of your accomplishments, dedication, commitment, and most of all the way you have represented our schools. You are much more to our programs than wins and losses. The memories and stories that you have created during your time in Valley Stream will leave a lasting impact for years to come. I would like to thank you on behalf of the entire athletic program and wish you all health and happiness in your future endeavors.
GO EAGLES! GO SPARTANS!! GO FALCONS!!
Sincerely,
Scott Stueber
