South Students Achieve High Honors in Science Congress

The South High School Science Department has a lot to celebrate, as five students from both Science Research 9 and Senior High Science Research programs were lauded for their projects at the Long Island Science Congress.

For the Senior Division, Sreeya Bobby earned High Honors and Best in Category for her project, “Trends between technology users and selective attention”; Abdullah Ali received High Honors for his project, “Variation of Fiber to Create Viable Green Composites”; Justin Ocampo earned Honors for his project, “Musical Study’s Impact On a Person’s Cognitive Ability and Ambidexterity” and Emrecan Sonmez received High Honors for his project, “Statistical Analysis on the age estimation of Type Ia Supernova Remnants.” In the Junior Division, Dori Chau earned Honors for her project, “How do different densities of water-soap solution affect the speed of sound.”

The district congratulates these students on their wonderful accomplishments.
