Valley Stream South High School Sophomore Cedrize Bramble is set to compete in the finals of the Poetry Out Loud state competition, which takes place on Saturday, March 11. The competition will be held at the Center for Fiction in Brooklyn. Cedrize was one of twenty students selected from across the state to make it to the Poetry Out Loud state finals.
Cedrize will be performing the poems “That’s My Heart Right There” by Willie Perdomo, “I Wonder Where You Are” by Tanaya Winder, and “Thine Own” by Josephine Delphine Henderson Heard. If she wins, she will go on to represent New York in the national Poetry Out Loud competition in Washington, D.C., running from May 8 to 10.
