South Girls Soccer Team Earns County Sportsmanship Award

November 29, 2022

The Nassau County Girls Soccer Coaches Association has awarded the South High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team the Association’s Sportsmanship Award for the 2022 fall season. The award is given to teams that consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship and ethical conduct—both on and off the field.

“As coaches, we teach our student-athletes to be competitive and play to win, of course, but always within the rules of the game and with respect for their opponents and officials,” said South Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Richard Boyd. “We teach the players to win with grace and to lose with dignity. Being a good sport is as important as winning.”

Coaches across Nassau County voted to select the girls Soccer Falcons for the honor. “This award speaks to the positive character and values the team brings to the sport,” said Principal Maureen Henry.
