The Valley Stream South High School Cultural Society recently marked its 20th anniversary with a grand celebration in the school’s auditorium, bringing together students, families, and roughly 60 alumni.
Organized by a committee of alumni alongside club advisors Jeffrey Hsi and Patricia Franco, the gathering united people of various backgrounds and age groups to honor the club’s mission of fostering unity between different cultures. Among the notable alumni in attendance was Ketan Panchal, the founding student president of the society.
“To see students coming back to celebrate with us years after they’ve graduated tells me that this club really meant something to them,” said Mr. Hsi, who is also the Cultural Society’s founding advisor.
The event featured a photobooth, student performances representing a variety of cultural backgrounds. Attendees also enjoyed refreshments at tables decorated with flags representing the diverse cultures within the organization. The celebration honored the core values of unity, diversity, and community that the Cultural Society continues to uphold.
