Valley Stream South High School alumna and track-and-field coach Cara Rostant has been inducted into the Manhattan College Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to the college’s track-and-field program.
A member of South High School’s class of 2009, Cara set the school record in the women’s 400-meter event, captained her team, and was a key member of the 4×800-meter New York State Championship team.
Cara continued her education and athletic career at Manhattan College, where she excelled in the 200- meter, 300- meter, and 400- meter events, earning four individual MAAC championships in the 400 meter and two in the 200 meter. Known for rising to the occasion during pivotal moments, Cara captured four medals at the 2012 MAAC Outdoor Championships. She also set the Manhattan College record in the 300 meter.
In 2014, Cara returned to Valley Stream South, this time as a coach for the track-and-field team. Now “on the other side of the watch,” Cara inspires the next generation of athletes with her knowledge, experience, and passion for the sport.
