A Message from North’s Principal – Dr. Robin Small
I am pleased to welcome you to Valley Stream North Junior/Senior High School. At North, we strive to create an environment where every scholar is provided the attention necessary to achieve individual triumph by embracing diversity and driving success through respect, integrity, and kindness. North is a place where exceptional teaching and learning is the norm.
The North experience is a blueprint for an education grounded in academics, the arts, athletics, community service, and humanities. The mission at North is for all our scholars to make a relevant contribution to our society and become self-sufficient, successful adults when they graduate. The goal is for our scholars to develop competence and confidence when engaging in learning without compromising their social-emotional well-being. The faculty and staff know what is necessary to prepare our scholars for the demands of college, career and life after high school. The rigorous curriculum and our dedicated faculty and staff combine to give scholars every opportunity to demonstrate the best in all their endeavors while at North.
Whether you are a junior high or high school scholar, each year brings new challenges, unanticipated changes, and new days. The workload and the social adjustment challenges increase. However, our rich tradition of academic, athletic, and co-curricular programming encourages our scholars to balance academics and extracurricular activities and helps them successfully navigate these transitions. In partnership with the Valley Stream North community, we have created a school learning environment that is nurturing, compassionate and inspiring. The active participation of our scholars, faculty, staff, families, and community members has made this possible and is essential for our continued success. Therefore, I encourage you to join North’s PTSA, the Spartan Club, and take advantage of every opportunity to get involved with your scholars’ education and their North Junior/Senior High School experience.
I look forward to working with you and your scholar throughout the years to provide support and a safe learning environment continuously. I am extremely privileged to be your Principal.
Go Spartans!
Thank you,
Dr. Robin Small
