STUDENT GOVERNMENT

Student Council

Student Council is the voice of Central High School; a student government dedicated to monitoring conditions and activities in the building. As a council it listens to students suggestions, meets regularly with the principal and other faculty members in order to help make Central the best possible place to learn in.  

Class of 2022

The Class of 2022 helps provide activities that will help the sophomores create new friendships, and learn to organize and exhibit individual skills for the benefit of the class.
 

Class of 2021

The class of 2021 helps organize all of the 11th grade activities including Homecoming, spirit week participation, fund-raising, and the Senior breakfast. They begin to plan their Senior Prom.

Class of 2020

The Senior class works together and shares their special talents and abilities to organize and develop fund-raisers, class week, homecoming, Senior Prom, and graduation.

Mu Alpha Theta/Mathletes

Mu Alpha Theta is Central’s Math Honor Society. Membership requires an overall average of 90% through three years of Regent level Math courses. The students tutor other students, create and maintain Central’s Web site, and participate in a National Math exam called AHSME.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society membership is open to 11th and 12th graders who exhibit excellence in scholarship, character, leadership and school service. There is an induction ceremony in December and participation in various activities within the school and the community.

TRI – M Honor Society

The TRI – M Music Honor Society is open to all Central students that are involved in any of the school’s music programs. Members perform within the school as well as in the community. Members also assist with many of the concerts throughout the school year. Students that were inducted at Memorial Jr. High School are automatically considered members at Central as long as they maintain good attendance.

World Language Honor Society

Membership in Foreign Language Honor Society is based on academic excellence in a second language. The aim of the club is to promote awareness of foreign languages, cultures, and customs.
 

LITERARY PUBLICATIONS

Cadet Yearbook

The Cadet Yearbook Staff publishes Central High School’s yearbook. Responsibilities of the staffers include layout, copy, artwork, business, and photography.

Crier

Crier is Central’s news magazine. It is open to all students who have an interest in either creative writing or journalism.

FBLA

Future Business Leaders of America is a nonprofit education association of students who are interested in careers in business and business-related fields. The FBLA mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

Homework Club

The Homework Club is a place where all students can go to work on makeup homework with the assistance of quality instructors. All students are welcome. The group meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 3:00-3:45 PM in room 120.

FINE/PERFORMING ARTS CLUBS

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is a non-credit extracurricular program selected for 10-12th grade students active within the Central High School Music Department who are interested in jazz studies. The group is limited to stage band instrumentation: saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano (keyboard), guitar, bass guitar, and drums. Performances have included: Cabaret Concerts, National Honor Society Inductions, Lights on for Education, charities, and school assemblies.

Spring Drama Productions

Tech Crew

The Tech Crew is an extra curricular club for students interested in the technical aspects of performance productions. Students gain skills in lighting, sound, and stage management, primarily through the practical work environment of the Drama, Musical, and Dance productions Central and Memorial put on each year. The Tech Crew also assists in providing sound for graduation.

SERVICE CLUBS

Peer Mentors

The Peer Mediation Program is comprised of students who are trained in conflict resolution, to help settle problems or disputes between students. Mediators act as a go-between for people in conflict to help them arrive at constructive resolutions.

SADD

Students Against Destructive Decisions is an organization of students who care about the effects of drugs and alcohol on driving. SADD explores all destructive decisions that affect teenagers today; date rape, eating disorders, bias, AIDS, STD’s, tobacco, and organizations. The club participates in many events.

SCORE Club

The SCORE Club provides students with opportunities to become more actively involved in school activities and community affairs. It provides fund-raisers, extracurricular events, scholarship opportunities and community services.

The Weight Training Club is open to all students at Central. The focus is on muscular fitness and cardiovascular programs.
