Summer School is a service that is provided upon the annual approval of the Valley Stream Central High School District Board of Education. If offered, Summer School generally begins in early July and ends in mid-August. Summer School is offered for VSCHSD students with recommendation of their guidance counselor. For private school students who are VSCHSD residents, Summer School is offered for students who have failed classes and who have a letter of recommendation from their school. Specific instructions and registration requirements are detailed in the Summer School brochure attached below.
Registration can only be paid via MySchoolBucks or Money Order.

VALLEY STREAM CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 2026 DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM
REGISTRATION FORM OPENS JUNE 2, 2026 at 9AM via Parent Square
We are happy to announce we will be offering a DRIVER EDUCATION program this summer at Valley Stream Memorial Jr. High School in partnership with the East Meadow Driving School.
The full program will begin on July 6th and end on August 27th. The program consists of two components, classroom lecture and driving instruction:
Students will attend the classroom lecture portion in person everyday Monday through Thursday from either 8:30AM-10:00AM or 10:00AM-11:30AM
Starting Monday, July 6th through Monday, August 3rd.
The driving component will consist of a 90-minute supervised driving class either every Monday & Wednesday or every Tuesday & Thursday.
Starting Monday, July 6th through Thursday, August 27th.
Registration will begin online on Tuesday, June 2nd (the form will be emailed via Parent Square) the cost of the program is $625.00 (includes MySchoolBucks fee). Students must be 16 years of age and have a valid New York State Learner’s Permit as well has the MySchoolBucks payment confirmation ID number to register.
Please read the following important information regarding the program before you register:
1. NO ABSENCES ARE PERMITTED. Students must be on time and present for every scheduled lecture/classroom and supervised driving class. If a student is absent or late even once, they will lose credit and therefore forfeit the registration fee ($625 includes MySchoolBucks fees). NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. New York State has strict hourly requirements in order for the successful completion of driver education. We must comply with those regulations.
2. NO REQUESTS FOR SCHEDULES WILL BE HONORED. TIMESLOT OPTIONS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. THE PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO 40 STUDENTS.
3. If your child will attend summer school, they cannot attend this driver education program. The scheduling does not permit driver education and summer school enrollment.
4. The program consists of two components classroom/lecture and driving instruction, students must attend both with no absences/lateness to successfully complete the course and receive their NYS completion certificate.
