North’s Team Respect Takes Part in Fun, Team-Building Activities

December 16, 2022

Valley Stream North High School’s Team Respect took part in a series of fun, team-building activities in the school library on November 23. The activities not only helped create comradery among the group of 7th graders, but also an opportunity to socialize outside of their classrooms ahead of Thanksgiving this year.

Team Respect is one of three teams in which North’s 7th graders are divided into based on the students’ schedules, and each team shares the same core subject teachers. The teachers meet each week to discuss their cohort of students and plan special events such as this one.

The activities included marshmallow tower building, blanket flip, cup stacking games, disguise a turkey, and classify words into categories. Through the activities, the group gained greater trust in one another, as well as some key teamwork skills.

The activities were led by members of North’s student peer organization, which is made up of older students who volunteer to participate in activities that help their younger peers. Altogether it was a major team effort!
