North High School’s English department held its annual Poetry Out Loud competition, which was open to students in grades 9-12.
This year’s event was held virtually, where participating students uploaded pre-recorded videos for the competition. Members of the English department judged each video on a number of categories including physical presence, dramatic appropriateness and accuracy.
First place was awarded to ninth grader Nidha Dar and second place was awarded to ninth grader Cody Sung. Rounding out third place was ninth grader Gianna Perlaza. Both Nidha and Cody will move on to the regional competition in late January which will also be virtual.
Event coordinator Sofia Owen, Department Chair Lori Belbol and the entire English department would like to congratulate the winners and all the participants.
