Valley Stream, NEW YORK (December, 2021) — Members of the Valley Stream North High School Ecology Club and Junior Honor Society teamed up to plant roughly 200 tulip and daffodil bulbs in North’s central courtyard and near the school entrance late last month. The bulbs will bloom in the spring.
Students planted them as part of a beautification effort at the school. Ecology Club Advisor Stephanie Restuccio taught the students best practices, such as how deep and how far away from each other to plant the bulbs as well as the difference between perennial and annual flowers.
The bulb’s planted this winter are in addition to roughly 100 the Ecology Club planted last November in front of the North High School sign. Junior Honor Society Advisors Amy Italiano and Maritza Suarez also organized this year’s bulb planting.
