Throughout the latter portion of September, Memorial Junior High School’s advisory lessons focused the theme, “Welcome to Memorial.” Memorial students participate in advisory lessons every Wednesday. These custom-tailored activities are centered around social-emotional learning and building school community.
In keeping with the month’s theme, students watched a video introducing them to building administration and the traits that define the Memorial community. The following week, students reviewed these traits and discussed the ones that meant the most to them. On the final week of September, the students were tasked with writing down their favorite Memorial character trait as well as ways they can exhibit this trait in their everyday lives.
These activities helped students gain a better understanding of the Memorial community and the different aspects that make it a special place for learning and growth.

As part of their welcome-to-Memorial-themed advisory lessons, students named their favorite Memorial character trait and identified how they can display this trait in their everyday lives.

Students spent the month of September discussion Memorial’s signature traits.

These advisory lessons are geared around building school community.
