Two virtual enterprise firms from Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School made it to the semifinals of the 2023 Virtual Enterprises International VE-JV National Competition. During the semifinals, the Memorial students pitched their business plans, and competed against fifteen other virtual enterprise firms from across the country.
Virtual enterprise gives students the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills by simulating the rigors of launching and running a business—replete with their own HR, accounting, social media, marketing, web and graphic design departments. The firms from Memorial’s virtual enterprise classes that competed this year were Oh my Delights, a cookie shop company, and Azorea, a water filtration company. In addition to taking part in the semifinals, Oh My Delights won the Virtual Enterprises International National Branding Competition, beating out 300 student-run firms from across the country.
