Valley Stream, NEW YORK (January, 2022) — During Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School’s Kindness week, students and staff went above and beyond performing acts of kindness for each other, and recorded the thoughtful acts to inspire others to do the same.
Kicking off on Monday, January 24, the annual event encouraged students and staff at Memorial to wear a shirt with positive messages and perform various acts of kindness throughout the week. Descriptions of the kind acts, which included giving a compliment, listening to one another talk without interruption, loaning a phone charger, helping a friend study, or helping clean up the school band room were written on Post-it notes and placed in the school hallway to inspire onlookers. It is part of the school’s BRAVE Committee Kindness Challenge.
