Members of Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School’s Students Committed to Social Justice (SCSJ) Club held their annual Justice Walk on June 5. The walk took place on the school track with club members, students, staff, administration, and parents from Memorial and Central High School participating in the event.
The walk supported a collective lens of experiences from a variety of different social groups. The groups represented a number of interests including women’s rights, LGBTQ+ protections, the rights of immigrants and indigenous peoples, climate change activists, opponents of racial discrimination, and more. It served as an opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for all students in the Memorial and Central community.
In addition to walking, the event included a raffle for social justice-themed backpacks. The winners were 9th grader Camden White and teacher Kelly Letfwich, who donated it to her 7th grade classes. The PTSA and the Valley Stream Eagles Parents Club sponsored the walk.

Students and Faculty from Memorial and Central took part in the SCSJ Annual Walk.
