The district is proud to announce that Memorial Junior High School counselor Ms. Laura Mesa was nominated for the National Life Group LifeChanger of the Year Award.
Ms. Mesa was nominated by Mr. Robert Rotunda, executive director of the New York State School Counselor Association. She has been a guidance counselor in the district for the past 17 years. She is known for her dynamic sense of professionalism and innate caring nature. With that, Ms. Mesa goes above and beyond for students and families by making genuine, long-lasting connections. She is committed to her position and is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of all the individuals she services.
In addition to her role as school counselor, Ms. Mesa also initiated the ASPIRA Leadership Development Club at Memorial and is currently its acting adviser. This club inspires students to become involved within the community and helps them develop self-confidence and team building skills.
The district applauds Ms. Mesa on this wonderful recognition, as the nomination will allow her the opportunity to be selected as a LifeChanger of the Year winner and the chance for her to win cash prizes for the school or district.
