Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School recently celebrated College Day, which gives students the opportunity to begin thinking and planning about their college careers.
For College Day, school counselors promote high school planning, college awareness and more to Memorial’s 9th grade students, who have already officially embarked on their high school careers. As part of the event, Memorial’s school counselors made presentations in all 9th grade English classes. Additionally, some current Central High School seniors were also invited to discuss what their transition was like as they headed to Valley Stream Central High School. They discussed practical topics such as class schedules, involvement in extra-curricular and community service activities as well as what it is like to prepare for college, the application process and what other plans they may have beyond high school.
The MJHS school counselors also encouraged all students and staff to wear some college attire to show college awareness and spirit.
