Memorial Junior High School held its First Annual Black History Month Celebration on Feb 6. The event included student performances from the Memorial Choir, Band, Step Team, Drum Team, and live poetry. Layla’s Drum and Dance from Valley Stream also joined in the celebration with an amazing performance.
Students, parents, faculty, administration, and community members were all in attendance and contributed to the positive and uplifting atmosphere of the night. It was a great night that highlighted and displayed the diversity and power of unity within our community!
As another tribute to Black History Month, Memorial Junior High School added a new Black History Spirit Week to the calendar. The first week of February featured influential African Americans and spotlighted Historically Black Colleges or Universities, 90’s hip hop artists, African culture and more.
