Kiwanis of Valley Stream Donates Little Library to Central High School

April 17, 2023

The Kiwanis Club of Valley Stream donated a Little Free Library to Valley Stream Central High School. Members of the club, along with school students and staff, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Little Free Library on March 24.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Principal Dr. Joseph Pompilio, Central Key Club advisor Julia Monaghan, Valley Stream Kiwanis Secretary Toni Pomerantz, New York State District Kiwanis Governor Joel Harris, First Lady Helene Harris, Central librarian Delores Aguso and school psychologist Brianna Horn.

A Little Free Library is a book sharing box, in which anyone may take a book or leave a book. In order to ensure that the library remains well stocked, the Valley Stream Kiwanis Club obtained donations from the community through its book drives in addition to the five boxes of books donated by the Book Fairies in Freeport. Going forward, the library will be maintained by Central’s Key Club.
