South High School students and families volunteer for annual Family Service Day
Valley Stream, NY (November 2021) — South High School’s motto, “Small acts of kindness make a big difference,” is purposeful, encouraged, and emphasized throughout the school year. On Saturday, November 20, over 200 South High School students and their families demonstrated their commitment to kindness by coming together on Family Service Day to help local families in need for Thanksgiving.
“We always have a great number of volunteers for Family Service Day, during which we put together baskets of donated food items for families in need in our community,” said Maureen Henry, Principal of South High School. “Thank you to everyone who donated food items and volunteered their time to decorate and fill baskets, as well as author thoughtful handwritten notes for each family. You made this year's Family Service Day a huge success. This is what Falcon pride is all about.”
The food baskets were distributed to South High School families in need and to Holy Name of Mary’s food pantry.
