Valley Stream North High School’s class of 2029 had the opportunity to tour the school’s campus at an orientation held this spring. Through tours of the high school and hearing from student speakers, the sixth grade students from Willow Road, Howell Road, and Dever elementary schools were able to learn about all the opportunities that North has to offer.
The soon-to-be junior high schoolers were taught about all of the social, academic, and athletic opportunities provided at North by alumni student speakers from each of the three elementary schools. Seniors Everton Prospere, a Dever alumnus, Alyssa Garufi, a Willow Road alumna, and Joshua Hunt, a Howell Road alumnus, all spoke to the students about their time transitioning from the sixth grade to junior high school as well as the activities they took part in during their time at North.
Students from the Student Peer Organization and National Honor Society took the sixth graders on a tour of the campus and held a variety of presentations. Department heads led the tour groups and showed off the main offices, cafeteria, library, gym, fields, courtyard and current 7th grade classes. The guests also learned about summer reading and extracurricular activities that will be available to them at North.
“We enjoyed meeting all of the upcoming seventh-graders and hope they are looking forward to becoming Spartans,” said North Student Activities Director Amy Italiano.
