Fourteen Central Students Receive College Board Accolades

Valley Stream, NEW YORK (January, 2022)—Fourteen additional Valley Stream Central High School students have been selected as College Board National Recognition Program awardees. College Board is a nonprofit organization that seeks to expand access to higher education by connecting students to college readiness programs.

Edward Uzhca received the National Hispanic Recognition Award; Joshua Szala, Christian Akaeze, Miles Fortuno, Zakkiyaa Fraser, Reannah Dautruche, Aaron Falconer, Michaela Sinclair, Michael Sinclair and Courtnei Smith earned National African American Recognition awards; while Emily Monfort, Sahannah Seemungal and Arielle Duplessy earned both. Criteria is based on academic achievement in school and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and/or Advanced Placement exams. The accolades are intended for placement on the students’ respective college applications in order to identify exemplary students from historically underrepresented groups.

“I am elated that the College Board recognized fourteen Central students for outstanding academic performance,” Central High School Principal Dr. Joseph Pompilio said. “These students demonstrate hard work, focus and academic excellence each day of school. I look forward to their success beyond high school.”
