Four student-musicians from the Valley Stream Central High School District have earned All-State recognition and will represent the district at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference in Rochester, taking place this December.
Central’s Liam Dela Serna, violin, was selected to the All-State Symphony Orchestra and Giancarlo Espocia, cello, was selected to perform with the All-State String Orchestra. South’s Aidan Ashby was selected to perform with the All-State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble, while Zoe Weiner, Alto 2, was named an All-State Alternate.
Selection for All-State is a significant achievement and reflects the work these students have put into developing their musicianship. They will join student musicians from across New York State for several days of rehearsals and performances during the annual conference, which runs from December 3rd through December 6th.
“Seeing our students represented at the All-State level is incredibly meaningful,” said Monique Retzlaff, District Director of Fine & Performing Arts. “These students have worked hard for this opportunity, and I am proud to see Valley Stream represented across strings, jazz and vocal music. This is a wonderful reflection of their talent, their commitment and the strong work happening in our music programs.”
The Valley Stream Central High School District congratulates Liam, Giancarlo, Aidan, and Zoe on this accomplishment.
