The Valley Stream Central High School District is proud to announce that five of its seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are Mishal Javed, Adrita Halder, and Kritika Jassal from Central High School; and Andre Fernandez, and Aleeza Akhtar from South High School.
These five seniors are among the roughly 34,000 students nationwide to earn the Commended Student distinction, placing them in the top 50,000 scorers out of more than 1.3 million entrants. The honor recognizes those who score at or above a Selection Index of 210 on the PSAT, representing approximately the top 3% of all test takers.
The entire Valley Stream Central High School District community congratulates these outstanding students on their remarkable academic achievement.
