South High School Language Honor Society officers provided students with a world of cultural experience through a variety of activities to celebrate World Language Week.
The festivities began with faculty and students wearing shirts that displayed their flags. The students created a word wall translating peace, love and hello in 26 different languages. Music, special education, English and language classes taught cultural lessons, which exposed students to foreign films, current events and literature from different countries.
In addition, announcements were read in four different languages and music from around the world filled the halls in between classes. The faculty participated in unscrambling a secret message and students participated in the yearly spelling bee and virtual scavenger hunts that promoted local business and enhanced world-famous art. The winners received gift cards to Chipotle.
