Central High School students were in high spirits as they celebrated diverse cultures for World Language Week.
This year’s traditions, heritages, recipes, flags, dances, music, poetry, pictures and videos were shared virtually on a World Language Heritage Week Teams page, which received over 150 entries from students and teachers.
The week kicked off with Monday’s Represent Your Roots Day, where students posted pictures and flags that represented their culture. Tuesday’s focus was sharing delicious recipes that represented so many different cultures. For Wednesday, students witnessed an abundance of diverse talent through music and dance. On Thursday, students in French, Italian, Japanese and Spanish classes competed online in a “Battle Royale” to test their knowledge in the languages they are studying. Friday was a day of reflection that followed the theme, “This is me…where I come from.” This gave students the opportunity to discuss the pride they carry in their own culture as they also learned about other cultures.
