The district is proud to announce that Central High School senior Kaitlyn Gavin took third place nationwide in the Theodore Roosevelt Public Speaking Contest, which is presented by the Theodore Roosevelt Institute and Theodore Roosevelt Association.
This annual competition challenges high school juniors and seniors to develop a four-minute speech on “Why Theodore Roosevelt Matters in the 21st Century.” The first round required students to submit a video recording of their speech to advance to the finals and then finalists were selected from various regions across the country. Kaitlyn’s speech describes the connection Roosevelt’s experience being home schooled as a young boy due to several physical maladies to her own remote learning situation in the age of COVID-19.
The district congratulates Kaitlyn on this amazing achievement.
