Valley Stream Central High School is proud to congratulate senior Trinity Kellarakos for being selected as a Gates Scholar. She is now among the 300 members of the Gates Scholarship Class of 2020.
Gates Scholars were chosen from a pool of over 36,500 applicants nationwide and are considered an elite group of young leaders that represent the very pinnacle of academic achievement, service and commitment.
This award will fund its recipients’ undergraduate educations and provide them with opportunities to hone leadership skills, prepare for professional life and start building an enduring network of fellow Scholars and other distinguished individuals. They will also have access to a range of support services, including mentoring, leadership development, wellness, career guidance, internship and job opportunities, and more.
Trinity is a dedicated student and has been actively involved in the Central High School community. She served as a leader in the Class of 2020 Club, a peer mentor and a member of the student council. She was inducted into all the building’s honor societies and has taken a multitude of AP classes. In addition to her academic success, Trinity is a talented musician, dancer and performer as well as a seasoned varsity athlete.
“Teachers and students value and respect Trinity for her genuine character and her apparent concern for others,” said Guidance Counselor Amy LaPersonerie. “Trinity has a drive rare to most, coupled with motivation to shine in the classroom.”
Congratulations to Trinity on this exceptional accomplishment!
