Valley Stream Central High School student Tolu Diyaolu was recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her writing submission in the short story category. Tolu earned the Silver Key award for her work titled A Revelation.
With this award, Tolu joins other famous authors, such as Stephen King and Joyce Carol Oates, in being recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards during their teenage years. This was the 100th year these awards have been given out.
“Tolu is a gifted writer who has honed her skills both in and out of the classroom,” said her teacher Justine Chan. “This award is just a glimpse of her capabilities. She indeed will continue to be making her mark in the literary world.”
