They waved, cheered and beeped their horns…Central High School seniors and their families formed an energetic car parade down Fletcher Street on May 8 during a special morning tribute. As the students approached the building, they were greeted by a large turnout of staff members assembled six feet apart from one another on the front lawn, eager to celebrate their accomplishments. The physical distancing and masks had no bearing on the level of enthusiasm as everyone united in positive spirits.
Members of the Class of 2020 and their parents showed up in vehicles decorated with college logos, banners, balloons, streamers and graduation slogans, and their names were displayed on the electronic sign outside the main entrance. Many also displayed thank you messages for their teachers and administrators to see.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bill Heidenreich, Principal Joseph Pompilio, Assistant Principals Robert Milani, Mathew Pearson, Senior Class Co-Advisors Catherine Barbino and Carina Sanchez and many faculty members applauded and held up celebratory posters for the passersby.
The event indicated the bright future that is ahead and reflected the connection within the community. All the district’s schools have been involved in plans to celebrate the senior class. Stay tuned for more exciting highlights!
