Valley Stream Central High School student Azriel Perez was awarded the Nassau County Comptroller’s Math, Accounting and Finance Award for his hard work and academic achievements. He was nominated by teacher Diana Jecewiz and recommended by teacher Brittany Willoughby.
“Azriel is a well-rounded student who demonstrates enthusiasm, kindness, and hard work on a daily basis,” Ms. Jecewiz said. “I’m so excited that he was recognized for his outstanding academic performance, and I look forward to hearing of his continued success beyond high school!”
This is the first year the Nassau County Comptroller has offered this award, making Azriel an inaugural recipient. Comptroller Elaine Phillips noted that in addition to his outstanding academic credentials, Azriel played the lead role in the Central High School District’s fall production of Pippin, which Ms. Phillips lists among her favorite plays.
