On March 6, the Acting Concentration class of the districtwide Performing Arts Program attended Hofstra University’s 71st annual Shakespeare Scene Competition under the direction of Performing Arts teacher Elizabeth Kott.
Performing in Act 3 scene 2 of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, North High School sophomore Alanna Munn won Best Actor for her portrayal of Hermia. As part of the award, Alannah will receive a $1,500 annual scholarship to Hofstra should she choose to attend the school as a part of their Drama Department.
In addition to presenting the scene, acting students participated in workshops such as Improvisation, Voice and Diction or Stage Combat, and had the opportunity to view the Hofstra Drama Department’s one hour production of Twelfth Night.
