Grieving A Loss While Living A Life

Children who are struggling with feelings around death of a loved one need help with the complex challenges of grieving.  Despite the energy it takes children to manage the emotionally exhausting reactions connected to grief, they are still required to meet responsibilities of school, socialize with peers and achieve the expectations of growing up.  This workshop will provide insight into the multi-faceted impacts of loss on a child’s life.  A focus will also be placed on secondary losses related to changes in school and daily life due to the recent pandemic.  Creative arts activities that parents and children can engage in together will be introduced to encourage the expression of feelings and the development of coping strategies.  Activities will be discussed to help parents communicate with their children about loss, increase self-awareness and identify needs.
