A Message from South's Principal

Maureen Henry

I, along with the South High School community, welcome you to our website.  I encourage you to use it as a resource throughout the school year.  Our building, which encompasses students from grades 7 through 12, focuses on bringing out the very best in each student both academically and through a variety of extra-curricular activities. I urge each student to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities there are to challenge themselves to reach new heights.  I am confident that as a school community we can accomplish much together this school year.

South High School is committed to a school environment that promotes personal growth, good citizenship and service to others.  South’s motto “small acts of kindness make a big difference” motivates all of the South community to share their time, talent and energy to provide service to others both here at South and in our community.  Wherever our students are – learning in the classroom, acting on the stage, or playing on the field – they are models of respect for all they come in contact with.  Our caring teachers are dedicated to providing all the help that each of their students requires to reach their potential.

I strongly promote the use of the extra help sessions that are provided on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  I hope that students and their parents participate in all of the activities whether it be sports, the performing arts, or the special events that happen at South High School throughout the year.  I encourage every student to challenge themselves to accomplish more this year both academically and by participation in community service activities!

I wish each of you a successful and exciting school year!
